Dr. Marcus Hwang
Dr. Marcus Hwang is a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon (DDS, MD) with advanced training from Oregon Health & Science University. His clinical focus is orthognathic (jaw) surgery, facial aesthetics, and the treatment of complex dentofacial conditions. He places particular emphasis on detailed surgical planning, close collaboration with orthodontists, and providing patients with thoughtful, highly personalized care throughout the entire treatment process.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hwang is deeply involved in surgical education. He regularly lectures and teaches on topics related to oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, surgical technique, and interdisciplinary treatment planning. He enjoys working with residents, surgeons, orthodontists, and operating room teams, and believes that continuing to teach is one of the best ways to continue improving as a surgeon himself.
His approach to surgery is centered on combining function, facial balance, and long-term stability rather than viewing the jaws or bite in isolation. He is particularly interested in modern surgical techniques, technology-assisted planning, and finding ways to make the surgical experience more efficient, predictable, and understandable for patients.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Hwang is a husband and father. Family is an important part of how he thinks about his work and the type of practice he wants to build. When he is not operating, teaching, or working on new educational projects, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, staying active, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
